a win against an old rival
april 3, 2025 | BOS @ MTL: 1-4
a win against the boston bruins! can you believe it! well, i can... now, anyway. it feels kinda crazy that boston has fell off as hard as they have huh? cause i mean, they've been going strong for so long. i do think they're going about the fallout of it as well as they can. well. kind of. if you're gonna crash out, you might as well go all the way down so you can recuperate faster instead of wallowing in midsville for a decade... ha ha. not that i have anything to say about that. although, in that "sell everyone" scenario you would usually still keep your mainstays to they can guide the newer players right? like marchand... whoops.
okay, i feel like i've already talked way too much about the boston bruins for my first blog post on my website about the montreal canadiens and vancouver canucks like omg nem talk abt YOUR teams. so! let's do it then!
oh boy, was this one a fun game to watch. it's a decidedly easier game than the previous two against the panthers, but that doesn't mean it's boring. things get scrappy, you get a fight, you've got great goals, what's better than that? we dominated the second period, it felt amazing.
and nick suzuki is an 80 point player! god, he's SO good. it's so annoying how people always wanna discredit nick, always wanna debate whether or not he's a "real" 1C. i think this season proves them all wrong. not only has he been racking up the points, he's been an amazing leader. that empty netter, that could've easily been jake's goal but jake decided to pass it to nick anyway. it's such an unselfish move, and i think it rly speaks to the sort of people that they both are—i can easily imagine that nick is one of the people that jake talked to before his contract extension, and that feeling of wanting to keep this good thing going resonated with him. that pass felt like a "thank you", in a way.
and then of course, there's nick's assist (80th point!) on cole's 35th goal of the season, now c'mon. the patience to draaaaaaag that puck all the way before passing to cole, ugh, it's a classic! that fond shake of the head... cole knew it would have to have been nick's assist. no other way it could've happened. that's just them y'know?
dvo popped off too, with that first goal. i've liked what dvo's had to offer this end of season, he's been very solid, very reliable. i like it a lot! and gally's goal, oh my god, why did the bruins just let him stay in the slot all alone like that?! absurd. wonderful.
monty was good as hell too in this game, though he wasn't challenged all that much. 2 shots in the 2nd period... my boy probably got a little bored, lol. he should've gotten the shutout man! pastrnak was on his leg!! ugh, it's so funny to me that goalie interference is such a hotly debated thing, and every time i think i know what it is... something proves me wrong. cause i looked at that like "oh, easiest goalie interference call in my life, no shot that's a good goal" but then it WAS. HUH?! what IS goalie interference!!!!
oh, well. complaining abt not getting a shutout feels like problems for privileged ppl, lol. which, well. we've been trending towards that, huh? the habs have improved so so rapidly, it's crazy. it feels amazing, i have SO much hope for the future, i can't get enough of this team.
anyway. next game is against philly, which... i wanna say we should win, but we all know what happened last time. ew. whatever, maybe the novelty of being free from john tortorella will have worn away haha. as always, go habs go!
